About Us

The Sorauren Park Association was founded by parents in the 1990s to work with Toronto Parks and Recreation to improve the children’s soccer and t-ball/rookie ball leagues at the park.

The association is made up of volunteers who meet once a month, especially during the off-season, to plan the upcoming season, make improvements, and make sure all the many details get looked after. We work closely with the good people at Toronto Parks and Recreation to make it happen.

Specifically, the association is responsible for:
-- recruiting volunteer coaches
-- recruiting sponsors
-- working with Parks and Rec to determine league structure and schedules
-- working with Parks and Rec to establish rules and policies
-- working with Parks and Rec to keep equipment and field conditions in good order
-- organizing the banquet at the end of every season
-- organizing photography and trophies
-- communications, including this web site

Toronto Parks and Rec provides:
-- the registration service
-- officials (referees and umpires)
-- equipment,
-- on-site park monitor

The Parks and Rec office at the Parkdale Community Recreation Centre (416-392-6696) is responsible for the park. Association meetings are usually held at the Parkdale CRC.

Key positions at the Sorauren Park Association include chairperson, coach coordinator, sponsorship coordinator, FUNtastic Tourney convenor, and banquet coordinator. But there are many ways to help.

A simple way to stay involved is to join our e-mail list. Contact us to get on our list, to stay notified of meetings, and to get involved.
